Welcome to Our Year in Review

Over the past year, we have seen extraordinary momentum in advancing Notre Dame’s global mission. For the first time in the University’s history, we received the Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization, recognizing the breadth and depth of our work in building a more connected and increasingly global university. Our community’s commitment to this enterprise empowers our students and faculty to go out into the world to pursue their scholarship wherever it may take them.

Our efforts to expand access and affordability for international students mark a new chapter in our work to ensure that a Notre Dame education is within reach for the world’s most accomplished and promising students. Around the globe, our students, faculty, and staff continue to pursue research, teaching, and service in collaboration with our partners who share our mission and values—from launching new academic programs and fellowships to creating spaces for dialogue, discovery, and innovation. We have also continued to strengthen our institutional partnerships with peer universities around the world, deepening our collective impact through shared expertise and meaningful academic exchange.

Study abroad participation of Notre Dame students has never been higher. In the latest Open Doors report from the Institute of International Education, we are at 87.5% of our undergraduates participating in a semester, year-long, or summer program, making us third in the country. We continue to design programs that are both academically rigorous and culturally immersive. These experiences prepare students to serve the common good and to engage with the world’s most pressing challenges—locally, nationally, and globally.

This 2024-2025 Annual Review highlights just a fraction of the impactful work being done alongside our campus partners, within the local community, and throughout Notre Dame’s extensive global network. These stories reflect the shared belief that international education strengthens the Catholic character of Our Lady’s University, sharpens our academic excellence, and reaffirms Notre Dame’s commitment to creating a more just and compassionate world.
