Notre Dame International strives to be a leader in global education, but the leaders on campus and at the global Gateways and Centers also empower and enrich the communities they serve. Their leadership and expertise, as highlighted in this section, expand understanding, transform thinking, and allow the Notre Dame community and beyond to reach further.
A Leader in Travel Security and Risk Management
Jaime Signoracci, who leads the international travel and safety team at NDI, has a diverse background of security expertise and leadership in higher education, including in the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). Signoracci works closely with University stakeholders on campus and around the world to develop policies, procedures, and training associated with overseas travel. She monitors worldwide news, benchmarks with peer institutions, and develops the University’s international preparedness strategy in coordination with Campus Safety and Emergency Management.
Over the last two years, Signoracci led two University-wide efforts: (1) to raise the level of and equalize the level of duty of care the University provides to its travelers by partnering with International SOS; and (2) establishing a new policy requiring travel registration for expense reimbursement for international travel.
Global Network Provides Leadership Around the World
Dhiraj Mehra (Mumbai) serves as the co-chair for the Industry & Trade Committee for the Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC). The chamber’s core function is to provide policy inputs and to promote interests of industry and economic growth of the country. Mehra is supporting major research projects in India with campus partners, including the Mumbai Sea Level Rise project and Project Sampoorna.
Lisette Monterroso (Mexico) serves as a warden of the U.S. Embassy in Puebla, Mexico. Her work focuses on creating an engaging, safe environment for instructors and students as she manages logistics, host families, and student support as well as educational and cultural activities. She also serves as a liaison between Notre Dame and university partners in Puebla.
Jonathan Noble (South Bend) served as the interim director of the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies in fall 2022. In this role, he led the institute's administration and worked closely with the dean's office, faculty fellows, and advisory board to advance the institute's research and educational activities. Noble previously served as the institute's executive director.
Daniel Schwake (Jerusalem) sits on the Board of Regents of the American University of Madaba (AUM) in Jordan. This is a committee of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem which is the owner of the university. The Board of Regents is the principal governing body of AUM. It is through this body that the Patriarchate leads and supervises the University and other related activities in the region.
Jingyu Wang (Beijing) serves as the Education Forum co-chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in China. AmCham China is the largest nonprofit organization for helping American companies to succeed in China. It has 700+ U.S. members. The AmCham China Education Forum hopes to build a bridge between Chinese and U.S. education initiatives and showcase different models for collaboration between education and business.
Catherine Wilson (South Bend) has been elected as president of the Board of Directors of Protocol & Diplomacy International—Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA), effective September 1, 2022. She was elected to the board in March 2020, and has served as vice president for communications from April 2020 through August 2022. She also recently served as the forum chair for the 21st Annual International Protocol Education Forum.
